About Docklands

Melbourne Docklands is a vibrant extension of the CBD. This unique precinct comprises 200 hectares of land and water and seven kilometres of waterfront, and is the largest urban renewal project undertaken in Australia.

Docklands is being developed in stages primarily by the private sector and overseen by VicUrban. Its distinct yet linked precincts bring together residential, commercial, retail and leisure activities.

Thousands of people in financial services, government sectors, retail and hospitality, entertainment and media, personal and recreational services and construction already work at Docklands. Over 6,000 residents enjoy the waterfront lifestyle.

By 2015, Docklands will be home to around 20,000 residents, a workplace for 25,000 people and a destination for over 50,000 visitors a day.
